Items worth £3,000 stolen from property in Startforth

ABOUT £3,000 worth of jewellery was stolen during a burglary in Startforth.

It happened overnight between June 2 and June 3 at a property on The Lendings. Police said some items were later recovered by officers during a search by the river.

Outstanding stolen items include:

Opal and sapphire cluster ring – 25 years old with 9ct gold band and opal centre surrounded by sapphires

Woman’s silver Accurist watch – oblong face with two black hands against a white background. The strap has a link type fastening

Sapphire and diamond stud earrings with a gold butterfly on the back

Pandora silver bracelet containing numerous charms – including one with New York and another with “mum” on it

Wedding ring – 18ct gold band

Engagement ring bought from Thailand – gold band with a blue sapphire square and six diamonds

Plain ring made of old gold with a large opal on it

Old dark gold band, with a deep red garnet centre and surrounded by about six seed pearls which are a creamy colour. One of the pearls is missing

Orange Stihl chainsaw.

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “Has anyone been offered this jewellery for sale? Have you heard who is responsible? If you have any information at all please get in touch.”
